Regis Sobinsky and Gary Bates collaborated on a strategy to create a promotional products distributorship from an end user perspective. For over fifteen years, they utilized promotional products to augment their marketing efforts in the computer industry. Most of the promotional products were purchased via direct mail-order catalogs. Some purchases were made through local distributors as well. Regis and Gary recognized the opportunity to bridge a gap between the largest distributors in the industry and much smaller local distributors. The largest distributors often require customers to do business with them more-or-less anonymously via mail-order or by calling long distance. And you often have to speak to someone different every time you call. The local distibutor often provides lots of personal attention but is too small to have the resouces to find the item you want; create the art the manufacturer needs; or get you the best pricing. So with this goal of offering the resouces of a large distrubutor and the service and attention of a small distributor, and noting the potential growth of the promotional products industry, Promotional Solutions was launched in April, 1996, as a division of
